The impact of strike of the stevedoring sector

Published: 14.2.2023 Updated 15.2.2023

The negotiations between the Finnish Transport Workers’ Union (AKT) and the Finnish Port Operators Association are still going on and the strike of the AKT, which started on 15 February, will continue until further notice.

SA-TU Logistics’s terminal as well as transport and Customs Support customs clearance services are operating normally, but due to the strike, the handling of both import and export containers has been suspended. During the strike, container ships will not be unloaded or loaded at the ports, and import containers in cargo will not be collected from the port or empty containers returned to the port.

Leaving containers in port may lead to additional costs (including container and field rental) and, if the strike is prolonged, to delays and congestion in the terminal handling and transport of containers. Congestion is expected after the end of the strike. We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this situation.
